The Christian Hecht Prize will be awarded this year again at the Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern.

After launching in 2018 the Christian Hecht Prize will honor young scientists in 2019 again as part of the Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern. The Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern will take place from 7 to 9 October 2019 in Munich.

We are looking for the best applied junior scientific work on deep geothermal energy in the Bavarian Molasse Basin. It is often the works of the motivated students and doctoral students who make important contributions to applied geothermal practice. The Christian Hecht Prize recognizes their important work and gives them the opportunity to introduce it to the geothermal industry.

Last year received Elena Mraz the award for her work on reservoir characterization to improve exploration concepts in the Upper Jurassic of the southern Bavarian Molasse Basin.

Master's and PhD students working on their theses with research topics relevant to deep geothermal energy in Bavaria may apply for that prize. They should already be able to present reliable results or have already completed their work. However, the master's or doctoral thesis should not have been completed before 2018.

The application deadline is August 19, 2019. The application should include an abstract (approximately 3,000 characters), which briefly introduces the work and the results, as well as a CV. The awarding of the Christian Hecht Prize will be decided by a jury of scientists and industry representatives.

As in the previous year, there will be free entry for the winner to the Paxisforum Geothermie.Bayern on October 7 and 8, 2019, an award fund and the opportunity to present one's own work with a keynote lecture to the reputable representatives of the geothermal companies. In 2019 the GDMB (Gesellschaft der Metallurgen und Bergleute) will sponsor the Christian Hecht Prize and has doubled the prize money to 600 euros. In addition, she praises a two-year free membership to the GDMB e.V.
